Katie is starting to really love interacting with her brother! She loves to sit and cuddle with him now. Will actually thinks she's hilarious - he loves when she comes over and starts chattering, it makes him giggle. When they cuddle, he always tries to stare directly at her and he smiles so big. It's so cute!
Katie asked to hold him today, so of course I sat them down and grabbed the camera. She ended up getting licked a few times, but it was fun to watch them be siblings!

Will's Follow Up
Will had his follow up appointment today for his Bronchiolitis. Even though we were told that it usually doesn't go away for 2-3 weeks after being discharged from the hospital and that he may develop ear infections and need to go on antibiotics, it turned out that he's perfectly healthy now! No problems anymore. He's been sleeping in his swing since we got home from the hospital so that he could sleep at an incline, so I asked the doctor if it was okay to let him sleep flat again. She told me to treat him like a totally normal baby because he's all back to being healthy. I was so relieved! I didn't know how to feel going into this, because last week I under-reacted, thinking that he wasn't too bad and then we ended up in the hospital for three days.
He also had no problem gaining weight even through the sickness! He's only 3 oz off of being 15lbs. They weighed him today and told me that he may have lost quite a bit of weight from a week+ sickness, and instead he's gained 6oz since last Wednesday. This kid has NO problem with gaining lots of weight!
He's also one of the happiest babies I've ever seen. Katie was a content, sweet baby who loved to smile, but even she didn't smile, coo and giggle as much as Will does. He seems to have the most extreme moods - he's either super excited and happy and loving life or he's incredibly angry and screaming, not much in between! His cries don't start out as little whimpers that slowly escalate - they start out full blast impatient roars. When he's happy, he's REALLY happy and when he's anything else, he's really angry! lol. Even throughout his sickness, he was a happy little smiling baby.

Two Months Old!
Will is now two months old. How is this going so fast???
As of a few days ago, he's now 14 lbs, 8 oz and 24.5 inches long. He wears 3-6m clothing and is in size 2 diapers. His eyes are still blue - they're no longer greyish, but are a deep blue with a pale center - which reminds me of how Katie's were when hers used to be blue with a yellow center. (they're now a crazy green!) He's such a happy little guy - he spends much of his day smiling, giggling and coo'ing. He loves to be talked to, and he'll talk right back while giggling, he loves to try and hold a conversation. He's also busy all the time - he wants to be walked, but he also tries to climb out of my arms. When I put him on his belly, he digs his feet into the ground and tries to make himself scoot around. He really wants to be on the move!

Will's Hospital Stay
Last week the whole family came down with a nasty sickness. First Katie and me, and then Will the next day. (Bill got it about five days later.) I prayed it was just a head cold, but I found that every day, instead of getting better we all got worse. It was a very rough sickness to battle through as a mommy. I was running a fever, always either having chills or severe hot flashes. My head was fuzzy, my ears had so much pressure behind them that I couldn't hear well, and I still had to take care of two kids and two dogs all day. I still had to make all the meals, wipe sniffly noses, and take care of a baby who had been colicky before the sickness, which only seemed to get worse each day. It was rough.
Last Sunday night, I started noticing that even though we had been in the bathroom every two hours breathing steam for days, Will was stuffed up and having a hard time breathing. He sounded raspy and when he took a breath, he used external muscles. He also wouldn't eat, every time he tried to latch he couldn't breathe and he cried. We took him to the doctors' office as soon as they opened. They told us he had Bronciolitis, which had been caused by RSV and was making him strain to breathe. They suctioned him out, gave him a nebulizer and then checked his blood oxygen levels. They were right beneath borderline, so they told us to go to the hospital for an overnight stay. Katie, who was barely running a low fever, got away with just having an ear infection that needed antibiotics.
Hearing that my tiny 7 weeker needed to be hospitalized was rough. I couldn't stop crying on the way home. Katie didn't want me to leave her, so she cried as we left for the hospital, which made it even worse. She was still quite sick and whenever she doesn't feel good, she only wants her mommy.
At the hospital, they started Will on oxygen and hooked him up to machines right away. They used a suction on him that they called a mini-shop vac, which was a very accurate term! He looked so little in the hospital crib, but he seemed quite comfy. Once they finally stopped touching him and he was able to sleep, he slept most of the day. I sat beside him on the sofa, waiting to cuddle my little boy and watching Food Network. Bill had to leave soon after we arrived, but first he set up my internet connection, downloaded skype on my computer, figured out how to use the phones and got me all set up. When he left, I was so lonely that I had a hard time not crying. It was rough being left all alone when you have to watch your infant hooked up to machines!
The day after though, he was already looking less pale and was back to eating well. I could hold him more. Skype was on my computer all day so I could see Katie and talk to her. Ordering lots of food from food service also helped! I literally gained 3 lbs during our stay! I was homesick and wanting my little boy better, but at least I was in a good place with wonderful nurses and doctors and I could see that Will was getting better. Being able to sleep without constantly having to check him since he was hooked up to machines also helped. It was the first time I think I slept peacefully since becoming a mommy! Still, we had to stay another night and hoped to be released the day after.
The next day they managed to wean him off of oxygen. He went up and down with having issues, but finally at mid-afternoon, the doctor released him. I was so excited to see Katie, though when I ran to hug her and ask if she missed me, she said "Mickey Mouse?" while pointing to the tv! It's been two days since we got home and we're settling in well again. I was afraid at first to ever put Will down, now that he didn't have machines telling me about where his oxygen was. But, he's been doing really well. He isn't having breathing issues and he's eating fine. He has a follow up on Monday to check him out again.
While this sickness is slow to leave, we are finally on the mend. Every day, instead of feeling a whole lot worse, we're starting to feel better. Today my sense of smell is slightly coming back. I can mostly breathe through my nose again. I can sleep for more than ten minutes without waking up choking and hacking. I can hear normally out of one ear again. I wish I knew how the kids felt, but I just have to judge them based on what I'm feeling and what I notice. Honestly Katie seems to be doing even better than me - she's always on her feet again, she's mostly stopped draining, and she doesn't seem to ever slow down or show any signs that she's still sick. She must be able to taste food now, because when I try to give her breastmilk in her juice cup, she hands it back and says "Bad juice." Thanks, kid!
I hate winter, and this sickness has just made me even more eager for spring. It's almost here, right?

Baptism!
The baby had his baptism yesterday! I'm so sad that I forgot to get a picture of Katie all dressed up, and I even had to go home and get a picture of Will in his makeshift outfit as I was totally not thinking about pictures. Luckily Bill thought to ask his step dad to get pictures for us during the ceremony or we'd have nothing!
While it wasn't as fancy as Katie's long baptism with a full congregation, it probably was for the best. While Katie was good and stayed content through her baptism and only got fussy afterwards during the confirmation, Will was NOT happy to be in the ten minute ceremony that he had. He slept through the mass and woke up right before the baptism - so even though he was well fed before, he was looking for his wake up meal and maybe a nice stroll as well. Waking up to sitting in a pew was not what he was after at all, and he proclaimed it loudly! Meanwhile Katie didn't want to sit in the pews either and decided to go run around, and when she was caught, she protested loudly as well. Once the baby was actually getting baptized though and the water was poured over his head, he calmed down. He does love his baths, so I guess he thought that's what was going on! Once he thought his hair was nice and washed, he laid down on my chest and fell asleep. After feeding him in the car, he was happy again and by the time we got home, he was fast asleep. He slept in his swing for about three hours while we ate cupcakes and socialized and opened his gifts.
In his makeshift outfit (we ran all over everywhere to try and find a real outfit
as I didn't want to risk ordering online with his inbetween size, but everyone discontinued
their baptism outfits last year) on top of his new blankie his godmother gave him!
His pre-baptism outfit (there was a white matching sweater that went over it as well).
With how much this kiddo spits up, I didn't want to risk him messing up his white outfit
early, so I gave him two complete back up outfits for the morning!

5.5 weeks
I hate winter. I hate the snow. I NEED the weather to immediately stop being both! Not only are we already buried under inches of snow from the last half week, we're supposed to get more on Sunday. That doesn't work for me! I finally nailed down the baptism date and have everything set and now it's supposed to snow a lot. I'm praying that it'll be a false alarm like last night, where they were calling for anything form 3-7+ inches and we only got about 1, but who knows. I don't want to have to cancel the baptism!
Will is almost 6 weeks old. He's super smiley now. Instead of just doing smiles to the fan or while dazing off, he really interacts with me. He gets ticklish now, he likes me to caress his big chubby cheeks, and he does a little breathy baby giggle when I do either. Yesterday he was fussing in his swing, so I went to get him. He looked right at me, gave me a huge smile, then fell asleep without me needing to pick him up, like he just wanted to make sure mommy was right there before he gave into sleep. He's getting so adorable and super lovable. He's just a big round chunk of cuteness! While I miss his tiny newborn-ness, it's also a lot of fun to have this baby who interacts with us now and loves to try and figure out his surroundings. He enjoys being sat up against me so he can scan the room over. He likes moving shadows, fans, the fish tank, and watching Katie jump around.
He's finishing up his first and last box of size 1 diapers already. I remember Katie stayed in them for a few months, but Will is already barely fitting and blowing out of them. He only has been wearing them since 3 weeks old, and at almost 6 weeks, he's already grown out. Which really stinks, as we received a lot of size 1 diapers at Christmas that are now useless. He's also stretching out of his 0-3's and into his 3-6's, which I only have a handful of.
When Katie was a month old, I already had the next baby's names set. But even though, during the hours of me walking Will, I like to think about names for the next one, I don't have much of a clue. It keeps me awake to wonder what the next one will be, what the next theme is going to be, but I can't decide on anything for once. It should have been easy this time - we already have our boy's first name set in stone (though his middle name is up for debate - I've given Bill two names to go with the first name and he really dislikes both.) and we had two girl names for if Will was a girl that have gone unused. I had one for a winter baby - Cecelia (Cece) Snow, and one for a summer baby - Charlotte Ariel. But now I'm thinking about putting them on the shelf, as they don't seem quite right for the next pregnancy. I have two new names in mind that Bill actually brought to me and I've become quite emotionally attached to, though I have no themes for either of them and no idea for middle names. I guess it's good that we have a while to go before the next pregnancy! Or maybe the next one is bound to be another boy, since his name and theme are already mostly set.
As for me, I'm hoping that I'm mostly healed now. The lochia has mostly stopped (FINALLY!!!) and the small tear I had that I kept reopening before I knew I had it seems to have healed. I don't have my "6 week" appointment until next month when I'm around 2 1/2 months PP, so I have to try and guess myself. I can't wait until I can exercise, I think I'm going to start trying next week with slow things. I have a bunch of DVDs waiting for me - Pilates, Yoga, Turbo Jam (which got me in great shape when I used it years ago), and a few others. Now if only my body will listen and let me start!

One Month Check Up
Will had his check up today, and he's doing great! At 5 1/2 weeks old, he already weighs nearly 14 lbs! He's 13 lbs, 12 oz and 23.5 inches long. He's currently tipping the scales at the 97th% tile in weight and 90th% tile in height, so he's very proportionate in his large-ness! I love that he's so big! The doctor also checked out his heart, lungs, etc and said everything looks great. I'm so happy that I'm able to provide so well and nurture him so completely! The fact that my body alone can keep up with him and let him gain an entire pound a week minimum every week since birth is just amazing to me.
We skipped his shots today, as they only had the Hep B scheduled for him and said that it's perfectly fine to wait on it and that he doesn't need it right now. Since I don't like the idea of him getting shots so early (with Katie we waited until two and three months) I was fine with agreeing to wait. The only shots I was fine with getting shots for pertussis or rotovirus since so much is going around right now, but since they weren't scheduled until next month, I wasn't going to push them for now.
The other neat thing about today is the kids went to the doctor in their Elmo and Cookie Monster fuzzy hats. Will grew out of his store bought hats a while ago, so I found the Cookie Monster hat I made months ago and made it bigger last night. One nurse saw the hats and kept saying how adorable they were and how I should sell them, then asked to take the hats into the office to show everyone. When I told her that I do sell them, she told our doctor. The doctor then suggested that we bring in an advertisement for my online store with a picture of my hats so that they can post it on the waiting room's bulletin. Since they have a big client base of all children, this would be GREAT for me to do! I told them I'll be bringing one in at his next check up, which coincides with when I'll be able to open my store again.
