Katie is loving the idea of being a big sister right now. Not only does she want to read her big sister books all the time, but she's become obsessed with babies. She loves pictures of babies, loves seeing babies in public, and takes care of her baby doll. She'll strap the baby into a bouncer, cover it with her favorite blankie, and then tell me "shh" so that the baby can go to sleep. Now she's even taken it a step further: the last few days she will randomly come up to me and lift up my shirt so she can see my belly, then smiles and lays her head down on it. Then she coos "baby, baby". She loves the idea of a baby coming soon! I know she probably won't always like it when the baby is here at first, but I do think she'll enjoy having a baby around once she gets used to sharing mommy.
In the last week and a half, there have been three babies born in my due date group, and another that's on the way. Suddenly, the group is being taken over by these newborn baby pictures and it's so hard to wrap my head around - I'm THAT close that people due around the same time as me are having their babies! Yes, they're going early, but not that early. These babies are healthy and making their appearances and it seems like each week someone else says that their water broke, or they're dilating and are on hospital bedrest. I'm getting close!!
I can feel it in myself as well, not just physically with the contractions, but I'm getting that clinginess that I recognize from Katie's pregnancy. I'm starting to dread when Bill goes to work. I get lonely during the day. I wait for him to get back...I'm getting that clingy feeling that I got towards the end last time. I don't want him to venture off anymore, even to work, because I'm getting closer. I get nesting feelings every few days. Everything is ready for baby except the boxes that are in the nursery waiting to go into the attic this weekend. Mentally, even without willing it, I'm getting prepared for the end.
I'm finally starting to feel ready. Ready to take on another infant, ready to be a mommy of two, ready to figure out how life works with multiple kids. I'm getting ready to be up all night (heck, I am most of the time now anyway), getting my supply back, ready to start moving out of pregnancy limbo. I used to be panicked about the end, about leaving Katie, about the what ifs, but there's starting to be a calm now. Whatever happens, it'll work out. If things don't go perfectly, it won't matter in a year from now. Back up plans are in place. Everything is starting to come together. There's less need to panic, which is what I need right now. I had so much anxiety about this one day throughout my whole pregnancy, and the last week or so I've been very focused to calm down about it. It's one day, I'll get through it. It's not even the pain of labor I fear, which really, that should be the fear! lol. I'm trying to stay calm about everything. I think it worked, because I might be too calm - I'm at the point where if I accidently had the baby at home or in the car or something, I don't really mind the idea of it! I'm not even worried about the circumcision, but I'm positive that the fear of that will come back once baby is here and in my arms!
If the above isn't a good enough sign that I'm being taken over by wackiness, I also wrote up a full list of about 15 girl names and asked Bill to shorten it down. Yep, I want to come up with at least a short list of names...for a baby that won't be born for at least two years down the road! The problem with nesting is I do it mentally too, and it becomes important for me to be prepared for everything...and I guess that includes the next baby after this as well. One step ahead at all times! We already have our boy's first name, the probable middle name and a back up middle name, so I'd really like to narrow down our girl choices a bit. It seems silly, but if it's going to cause me to mentally calm down, then I'm going to do it anyway.
Now to survive this weekend with my very fussy toddler who is once again sick. The sickness itself isn't the problem as much as her fighting against it. She gets SO frustrated so quickly when playing because she doesn't feel well but won't just lay down. None of us are getting very good sleep with her, mostly because I have a built in hourly alarm to wake me up and check on her temperature and stuffy breathing.

32 Weeks
32 weeks! I actually feel like I was 32 weeks already, so this week doesn't give me the jitters at all. In fact, now that I'm having contractions and preparing mentally for birth with the Hypnobirthing book, I'm starting to get less jittery and more really excited to finally hold my baby. This pregnancy may seem fast, but at the same time, I feel like I've been pregnant since last November - so long that I think part of me forgot that it does end and a baby does come from this!
Speaking of contractions, they finally calmed down today. I woke up with a few of them happening, but since then I've mainly just been sore in all of my uterine muscles from the last few days of work. Baby is obviously not pleased by all the contractions, I never felt him quite so active before - and that's really saying something! Bandit has been all over me since the contractions started, I wonder if she can sense them? She never, ever cuddles with me and the last two days she's all over me, wanting to lay against my belly or right up against me. In the year and a half that we've had her, she's never been a cuddle buddy for me (though she will cuddle with Bill any time he even tries to sit down!)
It seems like every part of me is getting eager for baby. My arms are starting to feel that yearning to hold baby, and every few days I keep checking to see if my milk started up again because I keep feeling like I'm "letting down". So far, nothing yet though. My back has gotten that "I can't stand the weight and posture of this belly" aching now, and even my knees are really starting to feel the pressure of these extra 28 lbs (which honestly, I thought I'd be way past by now, so they should be happy!)
And talking about weight, here's how it's looking this week:

Third trimester as I remember has truly hit. I overdid it yesterday, between walking to the post office and store and then running up and down stairs (okay, not actually running, but repeated up and down) trying to get things done...I've been hurting really badly ever since. It feels like I keep contracting really hard over/with pulled muscles, accompanied once in a while by cervical pain. I'm not getting around very well, and really miss Bill because he's been helping me get around. I'm keeping an eye on the contractions and making sure they don't become anything worrying. So far they're painful, but not in any pattern or anything timeable, they don't have any mucus plug or blood accompanying them, and they get better when I kick up my feet and chug a lot of water. So I'm sure it's just a case of really overdoing it and hurting myself.
It's definitely giving me a wake up call. All these contractions are definitely making me see that my body is getting ready and we're getting towards the end. Just 8 weeks! Two months! 57 days! None of them sound very much, especially when I look at the calendar and see that it's half way through October - just two weeks until November! Once November is here, it's almost time! It's insane to think how far I am. Until today, I kept repeating it to myself but just kept waiting for that wake up call when it would start to feel like a reality. Today, it's starting to feel real.
I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow, and it's making me so anxious - both in good and bad ways. I'm equal parts in eagerness and dread of the end. But I think eagerness is starting to take over.

31 weeks
Once again I've been too busy/tired on a Thursday to post about the new week! But can you believe it...I'm 31 weeks now! And I'm looking every day of that. My belly went from being the same size every week and in fact looking like it had shrunk a lot from the weeks before, to now being full out and about! Yep, little baby flipped again, his head is now down and his body is always against the surface of my skin (and of course, in my ribs because that's his favorite hang out place!)
He's a wiggly mover in there and he really hates the BH I get. I'm definitely getting them stronger, earlier and more often than with Katie. This time when they happen, I can REALLY feel them. Lately when I feel them I tend to just grab onto a wall or solid piece of furniture and just wait for it to ride itself out. You'd think this would be enough of a reminder to read the damn hypno book, but nope. Somehow I have such a busy agenda every day and each day I say "well today is super busy, but I'll absolutely make it a priority tomorrow." But that tomorrow, that's full of reading this book as #1, never comes. I'm going to regret this terribly later if I don't get a move on it soon, as it takes weeks of practice. The longer it's practiced for, the better it's done.
(update: I started writing this on Friday - it's now Sunday night and I have read half the book now!)
I've been splitting my time trying to get the house ready for baby (we just emptied the basement and brought up lots of baby stuff, now we're trying to organize everything) and crocheting my fingers off. I am SO close to making my second goal in my store of hitting that $1,000 mark, and I have about six requests on order that will easily let me surpass that goal by the end of the month. While the orders are starting to slow down (thankfully, as I'm nearing my cut off), I'm still getting at least one a week. I'm hoping to keep requests open for as long as possible, but I'm also going to need time before baby comes to not have to worry about it anymore. I have so much I want to save up for though, it's hard to refuse money! Especially because I'm currently playing with the idea to save up money to have a maid service come once or twice right before Bill goes back to work so I'm not "going back to work" on my own with a house that's really behind and messy, as I can imagine Katie and I will be keeping Bill busy enough for him to not be able to keep up on the housework well enough. If only I could order a chef as well! Bill's specialties are BBQ grilled chicken and steak - beyond that, he's woefully out of practice and managed to even turn boxed Mac and Cheese into shapeless, loose mush the other week, and I'm not a big fan of PB&J. Hmm, maybe I should start freezing meals!
I still haven't taken my belly pic of 31 weeks! I totally forgot until tonight, and I'm just too exhausted to go all the way upstairs, change, take pics and change again. Hopefully tomorrow I can catch a moment to do it!
Oh, and I remembered something else from my last baby appointment that gives me some hope - they're planning on trying to get the foly bulb induction to be allowed at the birth center, since there's nothing pharmaceutical about it to warrent a hospital only ordeal. Since my body took to it so well last time and I never needed anything else (and when Tammy checked me, she said I could transfer to the birth center since I was doing so well - problem was, she only checked me when I was already entering transition and my tailbone was already breaking, so I wasn't going anywhere!) I'd love to have that option with future pregnancies if I need to try induction again. I'm hoping when I follow up with it again, that they'll tell me that it was granted.
Just 60 days to go! (actually, it's already after 10 PM, so it's almost 59!)

30w,6d check up
Another midwife appointment this morning! I finally got to see Robin, who has been missing my entire pregnancy (not that I minded, but I don't want to not see her at all and then have her deliver the baby). She must have been away getting bedside manner courses, because she seemed much better this time than last pregnancy.
Everything looks good, my glucose and blood levels were confirmed as all really good levels. I was asked if I'm doing anythign differently this pregnancy than with Katie, since everything seems to be going much easier, but I can't think of anything I'm actually doing different...except chasing after a toddler all day and having a boy! Maybe boy pregnancies are just easier on me.
I told her that I couldn't find where the baby is - I knew he was head's down, then crooked, but now I only knew where his feet where (in my right ribcage!) She said she found his head's down, which is probably accurate. I'm going to assume he's head's down but not engaged since there's no terrible pelvic pressure like before.
Apparently part of the reason why they keep saying "We'll see" when I say it's a boy is because the doctor has gotten quite a lot of genders wrong. I never heard of this before, but they said they tease him for all of the babies that come out the opposite gender than what he told them. This makes me extra happy that I got the private scan and even saw baby's boy parts in 3D. There's really no chance that he can't be a boy, but if I hadn't had that scan, I'd be freaking out now!
I had to laugh when Robin gave me the hospital bag list and said "I know it's really early, but I like to start preparing around this time, so just in case you're like me..." Um...well my bags have been packed for weeks! The only one that isn't packed is Katie's, which I plan to do this week. The only reason I wanted the hospital bag check list was to make double sure that everything is packed. Right now I'm just missing those birthing gowns that I'm still trying to hunt down and then everything should now be in there - according to my list and theirs.
Baby's heartrate was in the 160's today, probably because it was taken when he was really active. Not that he's ever not active! I don't even have to do Count the Kicks this time because it's so rare to go more than 20 minutes without huge amounts of movements. Way, way past what the Count the Kicks requires.
The other great part about this appointment (besides everythign looking really good) was that finally, finally...there was no huge wait! They took me back faster than I could even get my weight, fill out the papers and check my urine sample.
The bad part of the appointment was Robin talking about new things the hospital wants them to do. It's only small right now, but they want extra tests - for EVERYONE to get HIV and Hep C tested. While Robin said it's no biggie to decline it (in fact, she didn't even offer it to me, she just said if it's okay to say I declined it because they don't believe in the tests), it's still sad to see that while they've only been taken over for about two months now, the hospital is already trying to transform them. Of course, who didn't see that coming (even though all the midwives and the doctor assured me that the hospital would leave them alone and not change anything). It's disappointing that it's happening so quickly. I'm sure next pregnancy will be very different, they'll be fully under the hospital's wing for at least two years at that point and I"m sure many changes will have been made by then.
But, at least baby is doing great, I'm doing great, and this pregnancy is sailing on smooth waters. I have another appointment in two weeks, where they'll start getting into heavier things - making sure baby is in the correct position (since it actually starts to become important to them at that point), preparing for the GBS test, and handing in paperwork.

Week 30!
You know I'm exhausted and worn out when I hit a big milestone (the big 30!) and don't say anything about it! This week has brought those lovely leg cramps with it that had be tossing and turning for two nights in extreme pain. I know bananas make it go away, but the last thing I want when I'm half asleep at 2 AM is to eat a banana! This is coupled with now needing to pee approximately at least 3 times a night on a good night, sometimes 5. This is partly due to me now being so thirsty at night - so when I'm not waking up due to the baby moving, the leg cramps, and having to pee - I wake up because I need to chug water. I'm quite sure that I don't make it through a single hour of the night without waking up for some reason (you also have to add Katie in there, who loves to toss and turn and I have to get up to check on her.) No wonder I spent a lot of yesterday napping or relaxing on the sofa! I'm just tired all the time.
I am now in the 60's in regards to days or 9 weeks, 6 days left to this countdown. That just seems like the smallest amount! Luckily Katie and baby are now registered in their new pediatrician's office. It took a lot of stress off of me to meet this new doctor. I handed her the paper and she had no problem with it. She doesn't seem as strict as others (I know at Katie's old pediatrician's office, they wanted to see the baby the day I was dismissed or at the latest, one day old!). This doctor says she sees all babies within 2-3 days of dismissal. She also has some weekend hours, which may make it easier for us, especially when we have two kids going to appointments. Due to how against everything not strictly hospital the last pediatrician office was, I have been worried over the new doctor's reaction but she seems much easier going and even remarked about how she really liked the doctor that referred us to her - the only doctor we would see at the old office who was much nicer than the rest (and the only one who would allow us to delay vax without kicking us out).
I now just have to pass my GBS test and I'll be all cleared for my birth center birth. I have to wait until 36 weeks for that one though, but I'm feeling better that I've made it through the rest of these hurdles.
I went to the chiropractor a few days ago, and now it feels like I can't find the baby. I mean, he's still kicking like crazy, but I don't know where he is exactly. He moved his head from my scar tissue, but not into my pelvis like before because the pressure isn't there. However he is still head's down...somewhere. I figure he must be straighter because I can feel those feet straight up and into important organs now, so maybe he's head's down but not low or engaged like before when I had the extreme pressure.
My daily yoga is no longer going well. I get myself set up every day and begin it, but the baby protests so much. He's just so active all day long, and me trying to stretch and bend makes him kick any vulnerable part I'm trying to stretch. He acts like he's trying to leap out of me, which is really painful in those positions (or any position, really!)
BH started the last few days. Some of them get quite strong, especially in my lower belly. Baby hates them and kicks like crazy while they're happening, which of course makes it worse. This little one is so insanely active! He's going to be a wild one when he comes out, I can tell already!

It really feels like third trimester is hitting me hard already. Even after going to the chiropractor, I'm absolutely exhausted and sore. He had to work on me longer than usual, and there were a lot of areas that were really sore that he had to dig his fingers into to fix and parts that were really crooked that he had to straighten. They feel better, though sore, now and I feel like I can breathe easier, but it didn't take off as much of the third tri symptoms as I was hoping it would. Usually after an appointment I'm energetic without any pains at all, but I guess you can't cure all pregnancy things within a few minute appointment!
Katie seems to have caught my exhaustion, and has been going to bed every night around 9 PM. I've been going to sleep with her since around 8 at night, I start to get so sleepy. Probably because most of my night is me getting up to pee, repositioning so that I can breathe (which sometimes takes a while and makes me fully wake up before I find a good position) or the baby deciding to attack either my organs or the bed, both which wake me up and are uncomfortable.
At 30 weeks (okay, 30 weeks tomorrow) I have now broken into the 140's in weight. Not sure how, because my appetite took a big nose dive in the last two weeks and I'm never very hungry anymore. Probably because baby's feet are in my stomach, or because heartburn is pretty regular now. Still, baby is definitely growing in there, and he feels very long. I think he's going to be like Katie and be another that's 21-23 inches long, which is pretty average in my family and probably for Bill's family too as they're even taller. It still amazes me how much room he takes up now, and how he can be so low and so very high at the same time.
I've been trying everything to get this baby to move for days now. His head just will not get out of my scar tissue, and it's constant pain. I never want to walk anymore because it hurts and feels like it's tearing when I do. It's hard to get around with him like this. So far I've been doign everything in the book to get him to move just five inches east, and he won't. I do hands and knees while swaying, I do yoga poses that are supposed to help, I crawl up the stairs, I went to the chiropractor to give him more room, I lay on my other side to try and get him to come over, and I've done other things. He never moves at all! He used to be in the right position, I'm not sure how he got himself stuck diagonally but it's been a good two weeks now at least since he's been like that. I don't think he's transverse anymore, so that's wonderful that he at least moved his butt, but now if he could only straighten himself out we'd be good to go!
It's totally mind boggling that I'm going to be in the 30's tomorrow. It's SO close to being done. Just 7 weeks away from full term and 10 from being due. Just a few weeks left to hand in all of my paperwork for the baby and the birth plan and get myself all set for birth!
