16.5 weeks

I'm feeling baby, inside and out. The kicks are too sporadic and usually only once or twice at a time, so no one but me has felt them yet, but when I start to feel baby get really wiggly in there, I put my hand over the spot and wait. Sometimes when I'm lucky, baby kicks my hand. It's still a small kick, but it's definite.

It definitely helps my peace of mind...which is really good, since my baby appointment had to be cancelled. We just realized, after all this time, that Bill has to work first shift every first week of July. So a 9 AM appointment is not happening. Even if I could be couragous enough to go to an appointment without him this pregnancy, everyone that day is busy and wouldn't be able to give me driving assistance. So, I rescheduled. The only other appointment they had for the whole week is the following day at 3:30. We may be able to make this one, but if we do, we'll probably be a bit late and they may just tell us to not bother coming in. If that happens, it'll be another week without an appointment. I held off getting a doppler for this appointment in mind. I'm desperate to have an appointment before my next ultrasound, because even with feeling kicks, I can't get nightmares out of my mind. I want this appointment, so hopefully if worse comes to worse and Bill doesn't get out of work on time, if there's any traffic along the way, they'll still take me as long as I call them and tell them I'm running late but will be there as soon as possible. It just sucks, knowing that I very may well not get an appointment at all this week, when I've been waiting so impatiently already.

I've gotten back into crocheting. It's become addicting. I'm making baby hats now, not just for this baby but for others due in my due date group. It's really helping me to fund the big item baby stuff I need yet, like the car seat ($160), the baby carrier ($120), a crib mattress ($40-80, depending if we want a good one or not), and that's if we don't bother decorating the nursery at all like I want to. We're really hoping to go to the beach as well this year, which is a $50 trip that I really want to fund, as well as the rest of Katie's party funding. Right now, if the people who have already ordered from me just buy their orders that they've given me, I'll have enough for the car seat and the baby carrier. The rest I can fund with my internet job payments. I'd love to be able to fund everything for this baby all by myself, it would really help!

I'm definitely less sick now. I haven't thrown up in about a week and a half. One every other day or so, I get really sick feeling, sometimes dry heave, but don't throw up and it passes. I don't need a nap every single day now, I'm starting to skip them and I have enough energy to get the house in order. For three days, Bill and I have been tackling the house, and it's looking SO much better. We're also preparing for Katie's party and trying to get the rest of the stuff together.

I love that baby can hear now. The fact that I can feel movement and know that baby can hear us makes it feel like this pregnancy is going great and that it's already come so far. This baby already feels so apart of the family, even though we don't know who they are yet. Only 13 more days though, then baby will have a name and I can start washing up all the clothes, filling the nursery dresser and getting everything ready. Oh, and buy a going home outfit! Oh, I can't wait to know the gender, it's killing me! I think I crochet so fast right now because I'm so anxious to get to this appointment! lol

16 Weeks!

Baby is the size of an avocado today!! In other words, almost as big as my hand at just over 5 inches long and 3.5 oz. Holy cow, that's pretty big already!

I'd like to say I can feel baby more and more. I mean, I'm sure once in a while that's definitely baby, but I'm pretty darn sure it happens a lot. I'm not sure why I doubt myself so much, but it's like I'm afraid to say "that was baby!" The movements are getting more pronounced, but still...I don't know. I think I'm waiting for someone to tell me that baby is perfectly fine in there before I get too wound up over movements. I still sometimes feel like I'm going day by day, waiting for the other shoe to drop in the back of my mind. There's a nagging voice I can't get rid of...but luckily I've learned to shove it back. I'm so excited over this baby, I just wish I could completely make that doubt go away. There seems to be a lot of evidence that things are in my favor - the movement feelings, the fact that my stomach is continuing to grow, I can feel the fundal height rapidly getting bigger (seriously, it's measured like a month ahead this whole time, sometimes more! It's currently beyond the 20 week mark.) and I've had ZERO signs of anything going wrong. I'm still sick, things still ache...I feel very pregnant. I feel like there's no logical reason to have any concerns, but ugh. I think I'm still traumatized from what happened last time and it's hard to let go.

But, on with the awesome stuff this week brings. Last week, baby could probably hear the outside world. This week? They say baby definitely can! Not just hear, but get startled by noises like Sophie barking or Katie crying against my belly. How cute is that...baby can already get startled! Such a little person already!

Baby now looks more like a baby, with the head on par with the rest of the body instead of being so big, and the arms and legs growing longer. Next baby appointment is in 5 days, and then ELEVEN days after that, we'll finally be able to stop saying baby and replace it with one of the names we've chosen. Not much longer! I feel like once we're in July, things will start moving faster. We have so much going on each week that hopefully it'll fly by. Okay, not fly by, I have a little girl's birthday to cherish in there, as well as celebrate my own and prepare for two parties in one...but still, a little quicker than this wouldn't be bad! lol

I started selling hats again! This time, it's infant hats! It's been really fun to make such tiny hats and imagine a newborn in them. In the last week, I've made Star Wars infant hats, a Steelers Football hat, and a sunny hat for a little girl who will be named Soleil (mean's sun). I'm now working on Christmas themed hats, different Santa hats, snowmen, Rudolphs...whatever doesn't sell in those will be a lot of fun to use myself! Though I've already received quite a few requests for them. Usually during pregnancy, I can't bring myself to crochet, but now it's really hitting me! After we find out the gender, I'll be making this baby a crochet bear, blankets, and a bunch of hats because this time I have a winter baby who will actually need nice warm hats!

I can't believe how big the baby looks on the ticker. That's such a fully developed baby! It's sometimes hard to imagine that an actual baby is inside me and it's getting so big. It's definitely time for another ultrasound!

Also, another bit of good news, I have been going a good three days in between throwing up. Which doesn't sound like much, but IT IS! Compared to daily throwing up and constant nausea, I even drove to the store last night and didn't get sick once. I mean yes, it's like a three minute trip, but it usually sends me breaking my blood vessels violently in the parking lot, and I totally didn't do that last night. Yay me! Any improvement is great improvement. Between those puke days, I usually only feel like I"m going to get sick once to twice a day now. So much better than all day from when I wake up to when I try to go to sleep!

15.3 weeks

I don't know if I should say it, as I KNOW it'll curse me, but....I haven't thrown up in a few days. Like, possibly almost a week. I still get really sick, I still gag, but actual vomiting has not occurred in week 15 (to the best of my memory...which honestly is pretty terrible.)

Energy level though is still so very low. I have no energy to do anything, even things I really want to get done and do. I have so many projects I'm excited about, even cleaning projects, but when I start them, I'm out of energy in ten minutes or less. Going to the pool, as much as I want to, is so difficult during the week when I have to walk there, swim, run after Katie, and then walk all the way back. It's not a very long walk and usually I do it without difficulty, but with no energy it's killer.

It's just 9 days until Katie's birthday and when we get to check on baby again. I can't wait to feel that security again!

15 Weeks!

15 weeks today! There's some changes I've noticed in the last few days that excite me:

1) most nights I can actually sleep through the night without having to pee five times. Usually it's 0-1 now. However when I do wake up in the mornings, it feels like my bladder is ready to explode. But it feels like that even when I do wake up in the nights, so apparently my bladder is just angry at doing it's job.

2) my boobs! They don't hurt so bad they make me cry while nursing anymore, finally! It's been so long, so many months of dying every time Katie latched on, but luckily it seems to be fading now. They still have stabbing pains though, thanks to them growing again. Oh goodie.

3) I'm definitely calling it - I can feel baby wiggling. Not too often, usually about once a day, sometimes more and sometimes less, but there's no way that's not baby.

4) I'm still gaining weight! Since reaching my goal line of above 120, I stopped really looking but I'm now 123, which means I've so far gained nine pounds in 15 weeks. Some baby sites say that's a bit excessive, but I feel much better being out of the underweight category.

In baby news, baby is now larger than my fist, roughly the size of an orange now and about 4 1/2 inches long.  And the pictures of a baby at 15 weeks? Beautiful! I was too scared to look up the pictures on google (seriously, looking up anything pregnancy picture related is terrifying!) so I took some pictures out of my book:

Baby is SO incredibly formed already! I can't wait to get my ultrasound and see baby's face this time. We haven't seen baby since 9 weeks, which was mostly head, eyes and body that could be made out. This time will be so different! For now though, it's just exciting to think that a baby that looks so formed and perfect is currently growing and on it's way to being our little Christmas baby!

Speaking of Christmas baby...how cute is this!
Belly picture to follow, I got to actually get up and go get dressed and take it first (I type that as I'm yawning!)

14 1/2 weeks

For Father's Day, I went through a bunch of pictures of when Katie was a newborn to find my favorite picture of her and Bill together. Looking at her only a few days old was a lot of fun because I couldn't stop picturing having another tiny baby like that soon. Sometimes I get nervous about the end of pregnancy and focus too much on labor, where I'll deliver and of course my tailbone breaking, but seeing that beautiful, wonderful result is really calming. I can't wait to have another baby in the house!

Week 14 has been fun. Well, if you can ignore the still constant puking and those poor parking lots that see me bent over and sick. This week, I started to undeniably feel baby. I thought I felt a few movements a week ago, but it was so early I ignored them because I couldn't be sure. Well, they're stronger now, and there's nothing that feels like them. It just feels like a tiny baby wiggling around and pushing on my uteran wall. It happens almost daily now, but usually only once a day. It happens so suddenly that usually by the time I stop doing whatever I'm doing to pay attention, it's already over. It's like little teases every day! But it's fun to even get those short few seconds. I can't wait to feel more and more often!

27 more days until we find out the gender. That feels so long, but I'm really hoping it goes fast! I continue to have those dreams about baby, and I can't wait to see what's right - my dreams, or my feeling. I'm thinking that my dreams are happening moreso from being so unsure about some things and being a bit stressed, but who knows. I'm so eager to know already, I can't wait to start calling baby by name!

And, just because it's an overload of cute and Father's Day, here's our little newborn Katie!

14 Weeks!

14 weeks today! It feels so unreal. It was such a short week! It feels so crazy that I'm two weeks into second trimester. My belly is getting huge, definitely showing that I'm now in second tri! I can't believe how much it's ballooning already! Just two weeks until our next baby appointment, which is on Katie's birthday. I'm really eager to hear the baby's heartbeat again, I get paranoid after a week or so of not getting monitored! I can't wait until this baby starts moving so I can feel it.

I'm still waiting for the symptoms to disappear. So far, my boobs hurt even more than ever, even though Katie only nurses to sleep now, much less than what she was at the beginning of the pregnancy. I'm still vomiting almost daily, and even when I'm not vomitting, I feel sick every single day, almost all day. No amount of food or pregnancy pops help. Some people in my due date groups are saying they have so much energy, but I have no energy at all still. I'm still needing to nap with Katie almost every day, and if I don't, I'm dragging to the point of tears by the end of the day. Yesterday, the two of us passed out for a three hour nap and we were still both exhausted afterwards. Where is my second trimester reprieve? Hopefully it'll kick in soon, as July will be a very busy month and preparing for it will be just as busy. I need all the energy, lack of sickness and pain that I can get! Every single day, Katie and I are working on projects to redo our extra room into her new playroom, get the nursery ready for a newborn, change up the attic so it fits all the craft stuff I moved out of our extra room, painting things (her dresser, her birthday gift, rooms) and working on stuff for the parties next month, which is really craft heavy to make it really fun.

Oh, and those hormones? Yep, getting worse! I cry so quickly and over such small things. And those sad commercials? Tears come flowing for anything! I'm all over the place with emotions still.

Here's my bump picture for this week and a bump progression to show how much it's started to pop this week!

13 1/2 weeks

This week seems to be going really fast. I'm a few hours away from 13w, 5d, which means I'm nearly 14 weeks now! It's starting to feel like this is going really fast. I made my gender ultrasound scan today for 18 weeks - which is only 33 days away! Well, that doesn't seem very long at all! My next baby appointment is in two weeks when I'm 16 weeks. My anatomy scan at 20 weeks is just over a week after my gender scan. Between these dates are Katie's birthday, my birthday, and what would have been Elizabeth's birthday - all which need to be celebrated!

Besides all of this out of the house, we're also working on changing inside the house. The hobby room was gutted today to become a play room for Katie, and now we'll be working on painting it, painting Katie's new dresser, and moving most of her stuff out of the nursery. Then we'll be working on redoing the nursery and preparing for a newborn again. It's so exciting to be doing it! I woke up at 4 AM last night, and while totally out of it, I felt like i should take apart my hospital bag and start packing. Um...that's a bit early, though truthfully I had Katie's packed around 20 weeks!

To think that I'll be HALF WAY through this pregnancy next month is so mind boggling. How could it have gone so fast already? A few weeks seemed to crawl by, but on a whole, it seems like a slippery slope! I'd love for this ride to slow down a bit once 20 weeks come. I'm so not ready to get near third tri! LOL.

My uterus has definitely continued to grow. It's a little higher now than it was when I was at the midwife's last. Can't believe how high it is compared to first pregnancy, this uterus really knows what it's doing this time! I'm really starting to pop out now. Strangers can now recognize that I'm pregnant and ask how far I am, my belly no longer fits in normal shirts, and Bill says I definitely don't look like I'm just gaining weight, but it looks like a proper round belly (I've really been thinking it looks like I'm gaining a spare tire, but I can see that it's definitely rounding out a lot and pushing out.)

I'm definitely enjoying second trimester. It really feels like I'm getting somewhere. Everything is starting to feel so close. I can't wait to start feeling baby and get daily reassurances that my little one is doing well. Hopefully around my next baby appointment, baby will start to move around enough to make me start feeling it! Now to just stop feeling nervous again...next pregnancy I'm totally saving up money for a doppler!
